Q. You already have a listing for my store on the site. How
can I modify it?
A. You must first register and we must assign the listing to you or completely replace it. Please contact us with your information after you've registered and let us know which listing you'd like assigned to you or created for you. Once a listing is assigned to you, you will have complete control over it so you can add and change text, logos, etc. as needed.
Q. How can I suggest a new category?
A. Send your new category
suggestion to Geezle Categories Email and we will consider creating a new
category if possible or suggest an
existing one to you.
Q. Does it matter what page in our store we have our
listing linked to?
A. Yes. We strongly
encourage you to link directly to a specific
product category page rather than to the general store front of your
site unless your entire store relates to one person (i.e. Lance
Armstrong), place (i.e. City of New York), or
thing (i.e. Honda motorcycles). If you offer logo merchandise for
12 different
NASCAR teams in your store on 12 diiferent pages, then create a listing
for each page. If all the 12 teams’ merchandise is listed on one page
and you
want to link to that page then that is OK, but it won't be possible to
create a listing title that will adequately communicate your offering
to a user (See below). Keep in mind that our site
will not allow duplicate URL's in the same category, so if you wanted
to list
that same URL 12 different times for each team in the same category,
you
would not be able to do so.
Some online stores pertain to one person, place, or thing, but
offer different item categories to select from. For example, men's
shirts, ladies shirts, hats, mugs, other gifts. It is very helpful to
structure your store so that if you link to one of these categories,
the other categories may also be selected from that page.
Q. What are the rules for the
titles of the listings?
A. We want to distinguish
official stores from other merchandisers. Only the official store of
any offering can use the words "Official Store" in their listing title.
For example, only the Chevrolet Division of General Motors or their
official store provider could title their listing as "Chevrolet -
Official Store." All other sellers of Chevrolet goods must use their
store name in their title and all titles must use the word of the
primary offering, in this case "Chevrolet," as the first word of their
title. For example, if the Chevrolet store listing is for "Randy's
Chevrolet Emporium" then the title would be "Chevrolet - Randy's
Chevrolet Emporium." Structuring titles to affect a listing's
alphabetical placement is not permitted, and we may edit any title to
keep it in line with the intent of the site.
Q. Can I upload a logo if I do
not own it?
A. Yes, as long as you do
not infringe on the rights of the logo's owner.
Q. Why are some logos so much
bigger than others?
A. All the uploaded logos
are automatically restricted in file size and overall dimension. These
horizontal and vertical dimension restraints favor square or rectangle
shapes. A long narrow logo can be at maximum length and yet be only 30%
of the vertical height allowed. Similarly, a tall narrow logo could be
at maximum height and yet only a fraction of the maximum width allowed.
If your logo does not size favorably, then ensure that its other
properties - color, design, etc. - make it stand out.
Q. How would we link to our store if it is part of a Flash
site?
A. This is difficult if
not impossible. Flash usually defeats our goals
with this site because it does not allow linking to a storefront or
specific page. We have deliberately bypassed most, if not all, Flash
sites when adding our placeholder links to this site. If you have a
Flash store site, make your storefront or specific page in your store
linkable.
Q. How do we tell you about errors in your site or make
suggestions on how you could structure things differently?
A. Due to the
international scope of this endeavor and our limited
understanding of certain structures, languages, etc. we welcome our
users input on how we can correct or improve the site. Contact us at Geezle General Email with your suggestions.
Q. What are the listing fees
and what forms of payment do you accept?
A. You will find this
information in the Membership Home area under
"View Website Fees."
Q. Why doesn't your search
engine find hyphenated words or words containing apostrophes or
ampersands?
A. This is a peculiarity
of the search engine, we know it's a problem, and we're working on
a fix. The search engine does not recognize hyphens, commas, ampersands
or anything else that isn't a letter or a number. To get around the
problem, try searching for only one word in a pair or a part of the
word. Keep in mind that this may return a lot of results other than the
one you're looking for. One of the best examples of this is a search
for the company "K&N." The search engine won't find it if it's
typed in
that way. If you search on just the "K" or "N," you'll get every
listing in the database that contains those characters. You may find
it's easier to find the category you think the listing may be in and
search for it page by page alphabetically. Sometimes the scenic route has its rewards.
If you are adding a link, keep this search problem in mind
when choosing your title and keywords.
